About the position

The Engineer - Manufacturing at Kewaunee Fabrications will play a crucial role in coordinating manufacturing processes by developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods. This position requires a solid understanding of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. The engineer will work under close supervision to perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh Corporation's engineering standards and processes. In this role, the engineer will support more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and reporting. They will be responsible for a project or part of a project of limited complexity and may manage multiple projects simultaneously. The engineer will provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, or production builds, analyze space requirements, workflow, and design layouts for equipment and workspace to maximize efficiency. Additionally, they will review and process engineering information through change notices, proposals, and continuous improvement requests, participate in cost studies, project time estimation, and technical proposals, and review legislative and regulatory proposals to determine their impact on projects. The engineer will also review and recommend fixture and tooling designs as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh Corporation's engineering standards and processes.
  • Support senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and reporting.
  • Manage a project or part of a project of limited complexity, potentially overseeing multiple projects.
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, or production builds.
  • Analyze space requirements, workflow, and design layouts for equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Review and process engineering information through change notices, proposals, and continuous improvement requests.
  • Participate in cost studies, project time estimation, and technical proposals.
  • Review legislative and regulatory proposals to determine their impact on projects.
  • Review and recommend fixture and tooling design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience, with internship experience considered.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of fabrication.
  • Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma tools.
  • Experience with AutoCAD software.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
