About the position

Sierra Pacific Windows is seeking a qualified Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at our newest and largest window and door manufacturing facility in Phenix City, Alabama. This position is essential for providing engineering support for continuous improvement efforts and new product development related to our production processes and equipment. The role will involve specifying production equipment with a significant focus on automation and robotics, coordinating the installation and modification of production equipment, and assisting with problem-solving as needed. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the integration of processes across multiple manufacturing facilities, implementing material handling improvements, and designing and acquiring fixtures, jigs, and tooling to enhance production efficiency. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with teams in production, product development, customer service, and sales to establish and improve methods and systems related to window and door manufacturing. The position requires a proactive approach to engineering challenges and a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization. Some travel may be expected to facilitate collaboration and support across different facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for continuous improvement efforts and new product development regarding production processes and equipment.
  • Specify production equipment with a focus on automation and robotics.
  • Coordinate production equipment installation, modification, and assist with problem-solving.
  • Integrate processes across multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Implement material handling improvements.
  • Design and acquire fixtures, jigs, and tooling to enhance production efficiency.
  • Work with design engineering and production to establish and improve methods and systems regarding window and door manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree preferred (mechanical, manufacturing or related).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in manufacturing discipline, preferably with automation, robotics, and PLC programming.
  • Technical/mechanical abilities with an understanding of window and door production.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automation and robotics in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming.
