About the position

The Engineer Materials Development role at ExOne/Desktop Metal focuses on advancing 3D printing technology in the areas of plant and process engineering. The position involves coordinating, conducting, and documenting experimental series to optimize processes and properties, as well as investigating related processes and qualifying materials.

Responsibilities

• Further development of 3D printing technology in plant and process engineering.
• Coordination, execution, and documentation of experimental series with parameter identification for process and property optimization.
• Investigation of upstream and downstream processes (data preparation, component post-processing, process chains, etc.).
• Binder and sand qualification.
• Occasional worldwide business trips.
• Research and investigations for fundamental experiments.

Requirements

• Completed master craftsman or technician training (ideally in process/environmental engineering), completed studies in process engineering or materials science, preferably with prior training.
• Experience with chemical processes and production methods.
• Experience in scientific work, systematic investigations, and experimental planning.
• Good self-organization and an analytical, goal-oriented working style.
• Quick comprehension, reliability, and communication skills are essential.
• High degree of flexibility and resilience.
• Good user knowledge of MS Office.
• Good English skills in spoken and written form.
