The Mechanical Sr Staff Engineer position is a critical role that involves advanced engineering problem-solving in support of nuclear plant operations. This position requires a deep understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply them in practical situations, particularly within the nuclear sector. The engineer will be responsible for making technical decisions that impact plant safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies. The role involves performing independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses to support various technical projects. The engineer will provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage, and implement engineering activities, ensuring that all work is accurate, complete, and timely. This includes maintaining proper configuration management and adhering to standard design criteria, practices, and codes in the preparation of plans and specifications. The engineer will also be involved in identifying and resolving equipment and system problems, providing technical consultation, and managing engineering issues effectively. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Mechanical Sr Staff Engineer will recommend new equipment, concepts, and techniques to enhance performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with evolving codes and regulations. The role also includes supporting plant design modifications, testing, and problem-solving activities, ensuring that all engineering products meet applicable safety analyses and regulatory requirements. The engineer will coordinate functional supervisory activities, including personnel management, budgetary accountabilities, and planning goals related to engineering personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced engineering and technical tasks in support of nuclear plant operations.
  • Conduct independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses for technical projects.
  • Provide technical expertise to develop, manage, and implement engineering activities related to plant safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work while maintaining proper configuration management.
  • Identify and resolve equipment and system problems through direct involvement and consultation.
  • Manage engineering issues and provide initial or complete task management.
  • Recommend equipment, new concepts, and techniques to improve performance and comply with regulations.
  • Support plant design modifications, testing, and problem-solving activities.
  • Ensure all engineering products comply with safety analyses, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate functional supervisory activities including personnel and budget management.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering and 2+ years Nuclear or related engineering experience for Mid-level Engineer.
  • B.S. in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer and 5+ years engineering experience for Senior Engineer.
  • B.S. in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer and 10+ years engineering experience for Senior Staff Engineer.
