About the position

Currently, we are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to work collaboratively with our Fabrication Shop based in Shelton, Washington. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and rebuilding lumber manufacturing equipment, assisting in the development and improvement of lumber processing equipment, and effectively modeling detailed concepts and designs using 3D modeling software. This role requires providing leadership and direction to assemblers and machinists, working closely with company operations to understand complete application and needs, and coordinating activities related to the development of new equipment. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineer will plan and supervise equipment installation, upgrades, and start-ups, while continuously learning and improving their knowledge of the industry and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience, along with at least one year of experience in the lumber industry and/or machine design. Proficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software is required, and experience with FEA analysis and PDM is a plus. Knowledge of hydraulics, drives, welding, and machining is preferred, as well as experience with machine center alignment and installation. The candidate should be able to contribute creative solutions and succeed in an innovative environment, demonstrating strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1 years experience in the lumber industry and/or machine design preferred
  • Experience with SolidWorks or 3D modeling software required
  • FEA analysis and PDM experienced is a plus
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, drives, welding, and machining preferred
  • Machine center alignment and installation experience preferred
  • Able to contribute creative solutions and succeed in an innovative environment
  • Possess strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
