About the position

Teledyne Storm Microwave is seeking a Design Engineer to join their team in Woodridge, IL. The role focuses on the development and testing of mixed signal harness assemblies that incorporate microwave, twisted pair, and fiber optic channels. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that designs meet customer requirements and are manufacturable, while also supporting production processes and improving tooling and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering and testing activities to support harness development and manufacturing.
  • Expand product offerings to include mixed technology harnesses with fiber optic, twisted pair, power, and coax channels.
  • Design, test, and analyze data while writing reports on findings.
  • Understand and articulate customer requirements for product design.
  • Utilize a rigorous scientific method for product design, ensuring fact-based design and statistically significant data collection.
  • Complete assignments in a timely manner and effectively plan to meet customer expectations.
  • Support production for multi-channel products, including process development and troubleshooting.
  • Create 3D models, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Generate test reports and ensure designs are manufacturable and perform as intended.
  • Gather feedback from operators to improve design and assembly processes.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree from a 4-year program required, preferably BSME (Mechanical Engineering).
  • Experience working with fiber optics, including design and testing of fiber optic connectors.
  • Proficiency in creating 3D models of components and assemblies in CAD, with Autodesk Inventor being a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.
  • Experience designing assemblies made from small components is a plus.
  • Knowledge of materials, finishes, and fabrication techniques used in manufacturing small parts is desirable.
  • Experience with production processes in a small-parts assembly operation is beneficial.

  • R/F or Microwave background is a plus.
