About the position

Moseley Technical Services, Inc. is seeking an Engineer - Mfg/Process/Industrial I to join our team in Kent, WA. This is a contract position that offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $40.69 to $49.23. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing an integrated manufacturing system that leverages innovative manufacturing processes to design and manufacture advanced space propulsion systems. This position requires a proactive approach to capturing manufacturing and facility needs, utilizing Lean techniques to create significant information that supports high-efficiency invention, evolution, and stable execution of advanced manufacturing processes. The Engineer will be responsible for identifying requirements and executing opportunities for data, tools, equipment, and workflow automation. This includes managing manufacturing-related projects and achieving targets for get-to-rate, cycle time, and lead time reduction for assigned work centers. The role also involves providing production support through various methodologies such as production scheduling, theory of constraints, budgets and forecasts, crew empowerment, defect analysis, benchmarking analysis, resource allocation, scenario planning, discrete event simulation, and make/buy evaluations. In addition to production support, the Engineer will focus on process improvement through Lean manufacturing principles, engineering economic analysis, process mapping, root cause analysis, statistical methods, Six Sigma, time studies, waste reduction, and work sampling. Operations improvement will also be a key focus, including ergonomic and human factors considerations, operations plans, recovery planning, capacity planning, and capital planning. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of integrated systems, including value stream analysis, facility layouts, production systems design, manufacturing process design, systems thinking, facilities planning, and requirements gathering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an integrated manufacturing system leveraging innovative manufacturing processes to design and manufacture advanced space propulsion systems.
  • Own the process to capture the manufacturing and facility needs, leveraging Lean techniques, and create significant information for high-efficiency invention, evolution, and stable execution of advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Identify requirements and execute on opportunities for data, tools, equipment, and workflow automation.
  • Manage manufacturing-related projects.
  • Achieve get-to-rate, cycle time and lead time reduction targets for the assigned work centers.
  • Provide production support including production scheduling, theory of constraints, budgets and forecasts, crew empowerment, defect analysis, benchmarking analysis, resource allocation, scenario planning, discrete event simulation, make/buy evaluations, and cost/price evaluations.
  • Implement process improvement strategies using Lean Manufacturing, engineering economic analysis, process mapping, root cause analysis, statistical methods, Six Sigma, time studies, waste reduction, and work sampling.
  • Focus on operations improvement through ergonomic and human factors, operations plans, recovery planning, capacity planning, and capital planning.
  • Conduct integrated systems analysis including value stream analysis, facility layouts, production systems design, manufacturing process design, systems thinking, facilities planning, and requirements.

Requirements

  • BS in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Manufacturing Engineering, or related Engineering degree.
  • From recent graduate to 1-2 years of experience working directly with manufacturing in a production environment.
  • Experience in assembly manufacturing environments.
  • 2+ years of factory flow and process modeling and simulations experience.
  • 2+ years of experience leading continuous improvement and value stream mapping events.
  • Strong analytic skills and a high degree of proficiency in data mining.
  • Exceptional with Excel, manual data analysis and other data mining tools (Python, R, SQL).
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-Starter.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
