About the position

Moseley Technical Services, Inc. is seeking an Engineer - Manufacturing/Process/Industrial II to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama. This contract position is focused on developing a coordinated manufacturing system that maximizes state-of-the-art manufacturing processes for designing and manufacturing sophisticated space propulsion systems. The successful candidate will partner with manufacturing and facilities teams to lead the process, gathering the necessary manufacturing and facility needs. Utilizing Lean techniques, the engineer will create meaningful foundations for high-efficiency manufacturing processes. In this role, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including automation engineers, process engineers, design and analysis engineers, machine and process operators, enterprise tool developers, and equipment and material vendors. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying requirements and opportunities for data, tools, equipment, and workflow automation. You will also lead manufacturing-related projects and provide production support, which encompasses scheduling, theory of constraints, budget and forecasting, crew empowerment, defect analysis, core competency definition, make/buy evaluation, and benchmarking analysis. Additionally, you will identify and prioritize process improvement projects using lean manufacturing principles, engineering economic analysis, process mapping, root cause analysis, statistical methods, six sigma, and time studies. Leading operations improvement initiatives will also be a key part of your responsibilities, focusing on ergonomic and human factors, operations plans, recovery planning, capacity planning, and capital planning. You will facilitate system integration through Value Stream Analysis, Facility Layouts, Production Systems Design, Manufacturing Process Design, Systems Thinking, Facilities Planning, and Requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a coordinated manufacturing system maximizing state of the art manufacturing processes to design and manufacture sophisticated space propulsion systems.

Requirements

  • BS in Operations Research, Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience working directly with manufacturing in a production environment
  • Factory flow, process modeling and simulations experience
  • Experience leading continuous improvement and value stream mapping events
  • Strong analytic skill set and a high degree of proficiency in data mining
  • Exceptional with Excel and manual data analysis
  • Excellent Interpersonal Communication Skills
  • Self-Starter
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

  • Operations Management, Construction Management, MSE and/or MBA
  • Rocket Engine Manufacturing Experience
  • Demonstrated ability in manufacturing and/or facilities planning
  • Project Management Certification (PMP)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Experience transitioning development to production
  • Manned space flight production experience
  • Strong teaming skills
  • Experience with manufacturing organizations and/or supply chain
