About the position

The Engineer - Manufacturing / Process / Industrial II position is a contract role based in Kent, WA, offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $40.69 to $49.23. This role is pivotal in managing various manufacturing-related projects aimed at enhancing production efficiency and effectiveness. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving critical performance targets such as get-to-rate, cycle time, and lead time reductions for assigned work centers. This position requires a strong focus on production support, which includes tasks such as production scheduling, budget forecasting, crew empowerment, defect analysis, and resource allocation. The engineer will also engage in scenario planning and discrete event simulation to optimize manufacturing processes. In addition to production support, the role emphasizes process improvement through methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis. The engineer will conduct engineering economic analysis, process mapping, and time studies to identify waste reduction opportunities and enhance operational efficiency. Furthermore, the position involves operations improvement tasks, including ergonomic assessments, capacity planning, and capital planning, ensuring that the manufacturing processes are not only efficient but also sustainable and safe for workers. The engineer will also be involved in integrated systems analysis, which includes value stream analysis, facility layouts, and production systems design. This comprehensive approach ensures that all aspects of manufacturing are considered, leading to a more streamlined and effective production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage manufacturing-related projects.
  • Achieve get-to-rate, cycle time and lead time reduction targets for the assigned work centers.
  • Production Support including Production Scheduling, Theory of Constraints, Budgets and Forecasts, Crew Empowerment, Defect Analysis, Benchmarking Analysis, Resource Allocation, Scenario Planning, Discrete Event Simulation, Make/Buy Evaluations, and Cost/Price Evaluations.
  • Process Improvement through Lean Manufacturing, Engineering Economic Analysis, Process Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Methods, Six Sigma, Time Studies, Waste Reduction, and Work Sampling.
  • Operations improvement focusing on Ergonomic and Human Factors, Operations Plans, Recovery planning, Capacity planning, and Capital planning.
  • Integrated Systems analysis including Value Stream Analysis, Facility Layouts, Production Systems Design, Manufacturing Process Design, Systems Thinking, Facilities Planning, and Requirements.

Requirements

  • BS in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Manufacturing Engineering, or related Engineering degree.
  • From recent graduate to 1-2 years of experience working directly with manufacturing in a production environment.
  • Experience in assembly manufacturing environments.
  • 2+ years of factory flow and process modeling and simulations experience.
  • 2+ years of experience leading continuous improvement and value stream mapping events.
  • Strong analytic skills and a high degree of proficiency in data mining.
  • Exceptional with Excel, manual data analysis and other data mining tools (Python, R, SQL).
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-Starter.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
