About the position

CAMECA is a world leading supplier of microanalytical and metrology instruments for research and process control. Our instruments measure elemental and isotopic composition in materials down to the atomic resolution and equip government and university labs as well as high-tech industrial companies around the world. We serve in several markets including semiconductor, nuclear science, energy, biology, environment, mining, and geology. The Microanalysis Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the test and optimization of microanalysis instruments to achieve the performance level defined in the scope of work with autonomy, proactivity, and adaptability. This position requires the candidate to be willing to relocate to France for a period of time (6-8 months).

Responsibilities

  • Perform and adapt actions to successfully conduct tests and resolve malfunctions in complex situations following protocols.
  • Ensure equipment monitoring during Equipment provisioning.
  • Document and record information related to instrument progress, calibration, documents, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), shipping, etc.
  • Demonstrate contractual specifications validating FAT instrument delivery when involving standard specifications (remotely if necessary).
  • Conduct Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for customer acceptance when involving standard specifications.
  • Provide customer(s) training on the instrument usage as well as maintenance operations, demonstrating solid teaching skills.
  • Propose improvements (Engineering Changes, lean practices, etc.) and suggest relevant actions for activities.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documents corresponding to activities, including SOP's work instructions, etc.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical training of the instrument.
  • Mentor newcomers in their activities following a defined framework or program.
  • Adhere to quality and EHS procedures.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (electronics, physics, analytical techniques, micromechanics).
  • Beginner or first experience in a similar position (scientific or medical instrumentation, semiconductor equipment manufacturer or large instrument, special machines, etc.).
  • Fluent English is required.
  • Strong communication and pedagogical skills.
  • Able to learn quickly to ensure the successful completion of an internal training program spanning several months on our specific techniques.
  • Methodical, rigorous, and autonomous.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Service-oriented mindset, excellent customer relations experience.
  • Experience with ECR processing and BOM management.
  • Strong mechanical and electronics assembly skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • High energy, self-starter and finisher.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and respond to changing priorities.
