About the position

The Engineer Principal - DevSecOps Integration role at BAE Systems involves assisting in the design, development, and administration of developer tools across multiple environments. The position focuses on realizing the architecture for products such as CI/CD platforms and Git infrastructure, requiring expertise in Linux system administration, troubleshooting, and IT system security standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system administration, cloud technologies, and software development processes, with the ability to contribute to development tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Interface with internal customers, security, and management teams for maintaining production systems and resolving issues.
• Perform system maintenance including auditing logs, patching/upgrading software, backups, and user account management.
• Work with software development lifecycle concepts such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), DevOps, Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Deployment (CD).
• Install, maintain, and support multiple Windows and Linux-based servers on physical and virtual platforms.
• Support engineering applications including JAMA, Syndia, Tasktop, and BAE Software Factory.
• Support Rancher environments, including Kubernetes, GitLab, Artifactory, Vault, and Grafana.
• Support DevSecOps tools such as Atlassian Tools, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps.
• Deploy new instances/enhancements/upgrades of applications in classified environments.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and the company.

Requirements

• BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field plus 6 or more years of related experience.
• DoD 8570 compliance.
• Excellent documentation and organization skills.
• Solid troubleshooting skills across OS, applications, and networks.
• Customer service-oriented with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Linux servers, scripting, and support (Ansible).
• Experience with specialized network environments (air gapped, limited access).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) and cloud-based technologies (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes).
• Experience with VMWare technologies (vSphere ESXI, vCenter, etc.).
• Experience with AWS services (KMS, VPC, IAM Roles, etc.).
• Experience with DevSecOps tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, Kubernetes, Gitlab).
