About the position

The Engineer / Principal Engineer Hardware Avionics position at Northrop Grumman involves supporting the Air Vehicle Hardware Avionics team, focusing on vehicle flight control and safety systems. The role encompasses responsibilities such as lab testing, flight test support, anomaly resolution, and supplier management, contributing to the development and integration of advanced avionics systems. Responsibilities

  • Support the Air Vehicle Hardware Avionics team in vehicle flight control and safety.
  • Conduct flightputer subsystem lab testing and flight test support.
  • Resolve anomalies and manage suppliers related to avionics systems.
  • Perform proposal development, technical planning, and system integration.
  • Conduct verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability analyses.
  • Translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications through functional analysis and detailed trade studies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with at least 2 years of experience for Engineer level.
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with at least 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or a PhD with no experience for Principal Engineer level.
  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance (US citizenship required).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, Visio) and Matlab.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, signal analyzers, and multi-meters.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
  • Good understanding of general avionics components.
  • Some flight test experience.
  • Some experience in supplier management.
  • Some experience in requirements development and verification testing.
  • Prior experience as a military, civil, or commercial avionics technician.
