About the position

The Engineer / Principal Engineer Systems Modeling Simulation role at Northrop Grumman involves working within a team to tackle complex problems in the development life cycle of DoD aircraft. The position requires gathering requirements, developing prototype models, and architecting solutions in a fast-paced environment focused on Science and Technology Mission Engineering. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and technical expertise to analyze data and improve operational capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements and develop prototype models in collaboration with internal business partners.
• Architect solutions for various System of Systems activities.
• Support the full life cycle of engineering development, including requirements development, modeling and simulation, and verification and validation activities.
• Analyze simulated and live flight data to assess mission effectiveness and operational capability improvements.
• Apply technical expertise to solve complex integration challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related experience, or a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline with no experience, or a STEM Ph.D. with no experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance or higher, with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
• General knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
• Basic programming skills in MATLAB.

Nice-to-haves

• Programming experience in Python.
• Experience in Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) Techniques.
• Familiarity with formal Systems Engineering verification and validation processes.
• Experience with simulation frameworks, performance models, algorithms, threat models, and command & control models.
• Knowledge of Integrated Air Defense systems and capabilities.
• Monte Carlo simulation experience.
