Learn more at www.analog.com and on LinkedIn. The Engineer, Process Sustaining Engineering provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area. This role involves recommending and implementing equipment and process modifications to improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques, and production yields for existing products. The engineer will develop and conduct statistical analysis such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) targeting physical causes of failure for yield loss and improving quality. Interaction with product design and development personnel is essential to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area.
  • Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques, and production yields for existing products.
  • Develops and conducts statistical analysis such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) targeting physical causes of failure for yield loss and improving quality.
  • Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in ChemE, Mat Sci, EE, Physics, Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of direct semiconductor industry experience with Diffusion and/or CVD process technologies.
  • Ability to develop resolutions to complex problems requiring in-depth analysis.
  • Ability to accomplish work with occasional supervision but often taking a lead role in resolution.
  • Advanced understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and engineering statistics.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to train, influence, and motivate coworkers with educations ranging from GED to PhD and experience ranging from new hire to SVP.
  • Contributes to the development and effective communication of project proposals.
  • Ability to drive best in class quality, productivity, throughput, environmental performance, process robustness, cost, and manufacturability within own organization.
  • Capable of safely processing wafers in a cleanroom environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of direct semiconductor industry experience with LPCVD or Metrology process technologies.
  • Significant knowledge of device physics as well as bipolar and MOS device integration.
  • 2+ years of interdisciplinary project management experience within semiconductor industry.
  • 2+ years of hands-on academic or industry experience with process and materials development.
  • Able to occasionally travel domestically and internationally as needed.
