About the position

Civmec is seeking a Lead Senior Project Engineer to join their Balanced Machines division, focusing on the design, engineering, execution, and completion of materials handling solutions for the mining sector. This role involves liaising with clients, managing project deliverables, and ensuring quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with client representatives regarding technical queries, inspections, project scheduling, and coordinating project deliverables.
• Understand and implement quality control techniques.
• Attend progress meetings and manage project design and engineering functions, ensuring engineering deliverables are met.
• Monitor and review design changes to assess the effect on project budget and schedule.
• Attend regular progress meetings with both internal and external project stakeholders.
• Technical preparation and evaluation of vendor packages.
• Review and approve technical deviation/query requests and maintain TDQR register.
• Maintain company standards for Quality Assurance purposes.
• Lead an assigned group of personnel providing technical support to manufacturing, construction, and commissioning work teams.
• Interface with all project functions, including design and engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and handover.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum 5 years in a similar role.
• Previous experience with Balance Machines, stackers, reclaimers, shiploaders, and other material handling equipment.
• Experience in design, engineering, and installation projects, ideally in the mining, materials handling, or oil and gas sector.
• Experience in a similar leadership role.
• Sound knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and cost controlling tools.
• Sound knowledge in design and engineering tools.
• Proficient knowledge in all Microsoft Office Suites.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the mining sector.
• Defence force experience is desirable.
