About the position

The Engineer - Propulsion II role at Blue Origin is focused on the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of combustion devices for the BE-4 Program. This position is integral to the Blue Origin Engines business unit, contributing to the advancement of safe and cost-effective spaceflight technologies. The role requires a commitment to safety and collaboration within a diverse team, aiming to impact the future of space exploration positively.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop combustion devices such as injectors, heat exchangers, and hot gas manifolds for the BE-4 Program.
  • Manage the complete product life-cycle of combustion devices from initial requirements through flight qualification.
  • Support manufacturing and testing processes, including performing test data reviews and processing non-conforming hardware.
  • Write technical reports documenting design and testing outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in an engineering discipline (aerospace, mechanical, chemical, or physics preferred).
  • 3+ years of industry experience in a related field.
  • Familiarity with various combustion devices.
  • Computer-aided design (CAD) experience.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with data analysis and data processing.
  • Ability to maintain positive and professional relationships and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. in an engineering discipline or higher.
  • Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10.
  • Strong technical fundamentals in propulsion, fluids, thermodynamics, and combustion analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of combustion devices design process and hardware fabrication techniques.
