About the position

The Quality Engineer / Principal Quality Engineer at Northrop Grumman is responsible for implementing Mission Assurance principles to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and company requirements. This role involves coordinating engineering activities, advocating for continuous improvement, investigating quality issues, and interacting with various stakeholders. The position is based in Palmdale, CA, and requires domestic and international travel, with a standard work schedule of four 10-hour days, allowing for every Friday off.

Responsibilities

• Implement Mission Assurance principles across the program to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and NG requirements.
• Support coordination and implementation of all engineering activities, ensuring quality, completeness, and detail in IPT plans.
• Advocate and implement continuous improvement opportunities, providing leadership in identifying and executing tasks to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Investigate quality problems, issues, and failures through root cause investigation and corrective action implementation.
• Interact with internal and external customers, including Program Mission Assurance Managers and Integrated Project Team Leads.
• Perform technical issue assessments, provide guidance, and plan for resolution.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCCA) and audits to strengthen enterprise best practices.
• Support and provide guidance for all program engineering processes from project inception to completion.

Requirements

• BS degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, systems, aerospace) with 2 years experience or MS degree in Engineering with 0 years experience for Quality Engineer.
• BS degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, systems, aerospace) with 5 years experience, MS degree in Engineering with 3 years experience, or PhD with 1 year experience for Principal Quality Engineer.
• Strong understanding and broad application of engineering systems, and DoD Mil specs and standards.
• Demonstrated ability to work without oversight in a multi-discipline team environment.
• Extensive experience with leading process improvement projects.
• Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action.
• Active US DoD Secret security clearance (ability to obtain Top Secret) and ability to obtain program access.
• Active Passport.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25% of the time.
• Ability to climb stairs frequently.

Nice-to-haves

• MS in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, systems, aerospace) or MBA with BS in Engineering.
• Experience with AS9100/ISO9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Trained and experienced in performing Root Cause Corrective Action.
• Experience or strong understanding of system engineering principles, disciplines, and tools.
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance with program access.
