About the position

The Engineer-RF - II position is focused on supporting the design and implementation of RF networks, particularly in-building solutions. The role involves collaboration with engineers on project tasks, site design, regulatory compliance, and the use of various RF-related tools and software. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telecommunications, particularly in 4G and 5G network design, and will be responsible for ensuring project accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • IBWave certification of a 2 or 3 to assist with in-building design.
  • Provide a high-level overview of how a DAS works and its components.
  • Support engineers in project creation and task completion for network project build plans.
  • Create site design RFDS and complete plumbing diagrams.
  • Utilize propagation tools and RF-related equipment to compare site candidates and review propagation and coverage.
  • Prepare and submit E-911 filings.
  • Determine regulatory coverage boundaries for extensions and FAA/FCC filings.
  • Prepare zoning justification packages and regulatory filings for sites.
  • Collaborate with the real estate team to enhance efficiency and minimize costs in site acquisition and zoning submissions.
  • Conduct RFE analysis, generate reports, and ensure compliance with RFE mitigation standards.
  • Analyze sites post-activation to ensure project and database accuracy.
  • Automate processes and share information with teams.
  • Audit and correct internal databases for accurate project implementation and reporting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in 4G and 5G network design and implementation.
  • Understanding of antennas, RF engineering, transmission, reception, and propagation.
  • Good understanding of band performance capabilities and limitations.
  • Knowledge of 3GPP Performance KPIs and their design impacts.
  • Familiarity with the effects of outdoor terrain and indoor structures on signal propagation.
  • Experience with topographical maps and digital terrain databases.
  • Knowledge of antenna system design and types, including installation for coverage and interference mitigation.
  • Experience with macro and small cell design considerations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced Microsoft Excel features.
  • Familiarity with GIS and EME tools like Ixus and RAVE.
  • Experience with Tableau for data visualization.
