About the position

The RF Engineer is responsible for contributing to the RF Design of the regional wireless macro and small cell network. This role involves site design, radio engineering evaluations, and addressing coverage problems to ensure optimal network performance.

Responsibilities

• Create site design RFDS and complete plumbing diagrams.
• Perform radio engineering evaluations for system planning and site acquisition.
• Evaluate coverage problems and requirements for coverage and capacity cells.
• Utilize propagation tools and RF related equipment such as MapInfo, Google Earth, and ATOLL.
• Determine regulatory coverage boundaries for extensions, FAA/FCC filings.
• Review cell sites and design for upgrades/modifications.
• Create search areas and review search area candidates considering performance issues, capacity, topography, and population.
• Work with the performance team to improve Key Performance Indicators.
• Prepare zoning justification packages and regulatory filings for sites.
• Work closely with the real estate team to streamline site acquisition processes.
• Conduct RFE analysis and ensure compliance to RFE mitigation standards.
• Determine required antennas for planned frequencies and their optimal positions.
• Determine required cable, antennas, and equipment for wireless network clusters.
• Automate processes and share information with teams.

Requirements

• 4-10 years of experience in RF engineering and network design.
• Advanced experience with Atoll and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrated knowledge of 4G network design and implementation.
• Understanding of LTE KPIs and their design impacts.
• Knowledge of antenna gain, free space path loss, and signal propagation effects.
• Experience with topographical maps and digital terrain databases.
• Familiarity with antenna system design and installation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Fuze, Roofmaster, SQL, Visio, Ericsson performance tools, and Visual Basic (macro creation).
