About the position
The RF Engineer will play a crucial role in the RF design of the regional cellular network, focusing on optimizing performance and coverage. This position involves collaboration with various teams to address issues affecting call quality and network efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Creating search areas within the geographic area of responsibility
- Working with the performance team to understand area issues
- Collaborating with System Performance counterpart to reduce Lost Calls and Ineffective Attempts
- Creating and supplying cell site translations
- Performing drive testing to evaluate search area candidates
- Preparing FCC/FAA and FAS submissions in a timely manner
- Performing radio engineering evaluations for system planning and site acquisition
- Identifying location-specific needs for new cells considering baseline, performance, capacity, and population
- Evaluating coverage problems and requirements for coverage cells.
Requirements
- Experience in RF engineering and cellular network design
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate performance issues
- Proficiency in preparing technical documentation for regulatory submissions
- Ability to perform drive testing and analyze results
- Familiarity with FCC/FAA regulations and submissions
- Knowledge of radio engineering principles and site acquisition processes
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with performance optimization in cellular networks
- Familiarity with drive testing equipment and software
- Understanding of population density impacts on network design
