About the position

The Engineer-Robotics Program at Eli Lilly and Company is a pivotal role within the Global Robotics Program (GRP), focusing on the design, development, and deployment of robotic systems across manufacturing sites. This position involves collaboration with various teams to enhance material movement and data flow through innovative robotic solutions, ensuring safety, compliance, and quality standards are met. The role also includes mentoring engineers and supporting the integration of advanced technologies in a highly automated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of robotic and material movement systems in collaboration with the Robotics Platform Owner.
  • Develop solutions for the integration of robotic systems across global manufacturing sites.
  • Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities with vendors.
  • Troubleshoot design and functional issues in robotics and PLC programming.
  • Review site documentation for engineering systems deployed to sites.
  • Champion safety, compliance, and quality best practices in robotic system delivery.
  • Support GRP lab activities and application development in robotic system design and simulation.
  • Provide technical mentoring to Lilly engineers and serve as a Peer Coach.
  • Lead or support the design and deployment of material movement solutions at manufacturing sites.
  • Collaborate with Global Facilities Delivery and other stakeholders to profile new robotic systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a science or engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in the development and deployment of robotic and/or automated material movement systems.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as an engineer in a highly automated environment.
  • Ability to travel 50% domestically and/or internationally, up to 1-2 weeks per month.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Experience with control system programming and warehouse integration with PLC, HMI, and MES systems.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc programming, 3DV, Cognex Vision Systems, and Visual Components.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging processes.
  • Knowledge of Commissioning & Qualification, validation activities, and cGMP regulations.
  • Experience with automated storage and retrieval systems and autonomous mobile robots.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and business partners.
