About the position

The RailServices Sales Application Engineer at Knorr Brake Company is responsible for providing technical support for the RailServices aftermarket department. This role involves collaborating with various teams to identify sales opportunities, develop technical concepts and proposals, and support the implementation of modernization projects. The engineer will engage with customers to promote RailServices products and ensure successful project execution through technical consulting and support.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical project handover from the Original Equipment project to the RailServices Aftermarket teams.
  • Assist RailServices Regional Aftermarket Sales teams in identifying sales and business potential.
  • Conduct proactive analysis of the installed base for technical obsolescence or performance upgrades.
  • Review competitor installed bases for potential business opportunities.
  • Promote and implement the full range of RailServices products and services.
  • Engage in technical discussions and presentations with customers.
  • Collaborate with sales teams during the tender phase.
  • Prepare technical concepts and proposals for business activities.
  • Conduct technical analysis of customers' installed base and products.
  • Identify technical customer requirements and expectations.
  • Develop specifications and write comments on technical customer specifications.
  • Generate technical concepts, proposals, and solutions.
  • Support cost definition and optimization during the tender phase.
  • Validate RailServices proposals in accordance with company processes and policies.
  • Manage the technical modernization process during the tender phase.
  • Write technical proposals and prepare tender documents.
  • Coordinate engineering activities during the RailServices tender phase.
  • Support the Project Management team in identifying sales and business potential.
  • Act as a technical consultant to the RS Project Manager during project implementation.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting during project phases.
  • Review and release technical project documentation for RailServices projects.
  • Assist customers with operation and maintenance of KB systems and products.
  • Coordinate technical problem resolution and customer assistance.
  • Initiate requests for engineering support as needed.
  • Conduct condition analysis and generate customer reports.
  • Establish and extend networks within the industry through customer visits and industry events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Relevant Engineering Discipline(s)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field
  • Experience in the rail industry or similar complex system integration environment
