About the position

The Sales Engineer II at Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) is responsible for designing and recommending complex data and voice network solutions tailored to customer needs. This role involves providing technical support to the sales team, engaging with customers to understand their business requirements, and ensuring that the proposed solutions exceed expectations. The Sales Engineer will also contribute to RFPs/RFIs by creating network designs and managing project costs through to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Design and recommend complex data and voice network solutions for customers.
  • Provide technical information and engineering support to the sales team.
  • Communicate with customers about Shentel products and services.
  • Develop an understanding of customer business requirements to recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Produce network designs, diagrams, and technical responses for RFPs/RFIs.
  • Track project costs and manage each project through to completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or technology field preferred.
  • 5 or more years of experience in the telecommunications industry required.
  • 2 or more years of Sales Engineering or consulting support experience with a focus on data and voice communications.
  • Strong project management experience is essential.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • VCCNA, CCDA, or similar certifications preferred but not required.
