About the position

The Senior Sales Engineer at Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) is responsible for providing technical sales support to the Sales team and mid to large Enterprise and Wholesale customers. This role involves articulating technology and product positioning to both business and technical users, identifying technical issues to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle, and collaborating with Project Management to deliver network solutions in a timely manner and within budget. The Senior Sales Engineer will also assist in defining product specifications and preparing technical and price proposals, while establishing strong business relationships and developing complex strategic solutions for prospects and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical sales support to the Sales team and Enterprise and Wholesale customers.
  • Articulate technology and product positioning to business and technical users.
  • Identify technical issues to assure customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to deliver network solutions on time and within budget.
  • Participate in the top-level configuration of network systems.
  • Assist Marketing and Sales departments with defining product specifications and preparing technical and price proposals.
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with customers.
  • Identify opportunities and develop complex strategic solutions for prospects and customers.
  • Create and present technical applications to clients.
  • Conduct executive briefings and training for Sales on emerging technologies and industry trends.

Requirements

  • Four year degree in a relevant engineering or technology field preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience in network architecture, including design, development, and implementation of enterprise-level networks.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Effective customer communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Optical Networking, LAN/MAN/WAN technologies.
  • Familiarity with Voice Network technologies and protocols (VoIP, SIP, MGCP).
  • Knowledge of access technologies (FTTH, DSL, DOCSIS, MetroEthernet).
  • Understanding of transport technologies (Ethernet, DWDM, SONET, ROADM).
