About the position

The Senior Sales Engineer at Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) is responsible for providing technical sales support to the Sales team and mid to large Enterprise and Wholesale customers. This role involves articulating technology and product positioning to both business and technical users, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle, and collaborating with Project Management to deliver network solutions. The Senior Sales Engineer will also assist in defining product specifications and preparing technical and price proposals, while establishing strong business relationships and developing strategic solutions for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical sales support to the Sales team and customers.
  • Articulate technology and product positioning to business and technical users.
  • Identify technical issues to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to deliver network solutions on time and within budget.
  • Participate in the configuration of network systems.
  • Assist Marketing and Sales with defining product specifications and preparing proposals.
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with customers.
  • Identify opportunities and develop complex technical solutions for prospects and customers.
  • Create and present technical applications and conduct executive briefings.
  • Train Sales on emerging technologies, solutions, and industry trends.

Requirements

  • Four year degree in a relevant engineering or technology field preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience in network architecture.
  • Strong technical background and substantial industry experience considered.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Effective customer communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of MPLS, Optical Networking, LAN/MAN/WAN technologies.
  • Knowledge of Voice Network technologies and protocols (VoIP, SIP, MGCP).
  • Familiarity with Access technologies (FTTH, DSL, DOCSIS, MetroEthernet).
  • Understanding of Transport technologies (Ethernet, DWDM, SONET, ROADM).
