About the position

We are seeking a Sales Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a unique combination of technical knowledge, business development skills, and demonstrated experience in the aerospace and defense industry. The Sales Engineer will have the substantial responsibility of conceptualizing and engineering robust, and innovative products that meet our customers' needs in both function and costs. This role requires a proactive approach to understanding customer requirements and providing tailored solutions that enhance their business operations. The Sales Engineer will conduct thorough needs analysis and assessments to understand customer requirements and provide technical expertise and guidance on our products and services to address their specific needs. Presenting and demonstrating our technical products and services to clients is a key aspect of this role, highlighting key features and benefits, and articulating how they can address customer challenges and improve their business operations. Collaboration is essential in this position, as the Sales Engineer will work closely with the sales team, product managers, and technical experts to develop and deliver tailored proposals, presentations, and solution demonstrations that align with customer needs and requirements. Staying up to date with industry trends, competitors, and new technologies is crucial to anticipate customer needs and proactively identify opportunities for product enhancements or new offerings. Additionally, the Sales Engineer will research and execute the development of concepts for potential new line extensions to the Howell product portfolio. Providing critical thinking and engineering support for technology programs/projects is also part of the role. The Sales Engineer will participate in specifying new product requirements and work closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure product features and functionality meet the customer/market needs. Developing and creating concept documents and/or drawings associated with new product ideas is expected, along with participation in industry technical meetings and conferences to stay informed on new technologies. The role may also involve performing additional duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough needs analysis and assessments to understand customer requirements and provide technical expertise and guidance on our products and services.
  • Present and demonstrate our technical products and services to clients, highlighting key features and benefits.
  • Collaborate with the sales team, product managers, and technical experts to develop and deliver tailored proposals, presentations, and solution demonstrations.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, competitors, and new technologies to anticipate customer needs.
  • Research and execute the development of concepts of potential new line extensions to the Howell product portfolio.
  • Provide critical thinking and engineering support for technology programs/projects.
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing, and Engineering to deliver solutions that will transfer with proven technical performance to Engineering.
  • Participate in specifying new product requirements and work closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure product features and functionality meet customer/market needs.
  • Develop and create concept documents and/or drawings associated with new product ideas.
  • Participate in industry technical meetings and conferences when applicable to stay informed on new technologies.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience of progressing responsibility in sales and marketing, business.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of the products and services being sold.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical abilities, with the capacity to understand customer needs and identify solutions.
  • Self-motivated and driven, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong background in aviation, engineering, and technical proposal writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
