About the position
The Sr. Controls Engineer position at 4Front Engineered Solutions involves planning, designing, and implementing control systems and communication networks. This role requires collaboration with product teams, mechanical suppliers, and customers to enhance production systems through programming, troubleshooting, and project management. The engineer will also lead process improvement projects and train personnel on control systems, ensuring effective operation and maintenance of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Develop SCADA system master plans and provide innovative solutions involving SCADA systems and communication networks.
- Support production by troubleshooting and programming plant automation equipment including PLC, HMI, and reporting software.
- Complete programming of robots and optimize production line flow and quality through programming changes.
- Train plant technicians and engineers on controls-related skills and develop preventative maintenance plans.
- Manage technical engineering projects focusing on new product launches and process improvements.
- Provide requirement gathering, design configuration, and implementation of process control solutions.
- Collaborate with contractors and maintenance personnel to identify and resolve plant process issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5-10+ years of engineering experience in industrial controls within a manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years of experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs and/or Robots.
- 1-3 years of knowledge/experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Experience with multiple HMI vendors and SCADA communication systems.
- Strong analytical skills and effective time management.
Nice-to-haves
- Professional engineering licensure is preferred.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor and BACnet protocol is a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of Cognex In-Sight software.
