About the position

The Sr. Controls Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing control systems and communication networks at the Carrollton, TX facility. This role involves working closely with product teams, mechanical suppliers, and customers to troubleshoot and optimize various industrial systems, including PLCs, robots, and SCADA systems. The engineer will also lead projects aimed at process improvements and provide training to manufacturing personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and implement control systems and communication networks.
  • Conduct programming, installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting for industrial robotics and production systems.
  • Develop SCADA system master plans and provide innovative solutions.
  • Support production through troubleshooting and programming of automation equipment.
  • Optimize line flow and quality through programming changes or troubleshooting.
  • Train plant technicians and engineers on control-related skills.
  • Manage technical engineering projects and oversee equipment/process improvements.
  • Travel to equipment suppliers for validations related to projects.
  • Provide design configuration and implementation of process control solutions.
  • Collaborate with professional services for proposal development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-10+ years of engineering experience in industrial controls within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3-5 years of experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs and/or Robots.
  • 1-3 years of knowledge/experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Experience with multiple HMI vendors and SCADA communication systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous assignments/projects and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional engineering licensure is preferred.
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor.
  • Understanding of LonWorks protocol.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Cognex In-Sight software.
