About the position

The Engineer, Simulator Software position at Constellation involves creating and modifying simulation software logic and dynamic models used in a nuclear power plant's Main Control Room Simulator. This role requires independent functioning with minimal guidance, collaboration with various teams, and a focus on developing and improving software features. The position is available at both mid-level and senior levels, catering to candidates with varying degrees of experience in software engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with business partners to gather information, analyze requirements, and deliver practical solutions.
  • Design, develop and/or review complex code to ensure solutions meet functional and technical specifications.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends, supporting version control principles.
  • Capture and action all risks and issues affecting projects appropriately.
  • Enhance knowledge of preferred technologies, methodologies, standards, and policies.
  • Provide technology solutions by evaluating technology trends and market products.
  • Create/modify and document simulation software logic and dynamic models for maintenance and enhancements.
  • Plan, design, build or manage high-quality IT software solutions for Site Main Control Room Simulator Projects.
  • Maintain engagement with the Site Training Department for various support activities.
  • Lead planning activities for assigned site and provide second-tier service to another simulator as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related discipline and 2 years of relevant experience or 6 years of relevant combination of education and work experience for E02 Engineer position.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium teams in delivering software solutions.
  • Strong software development capabilities and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong teamwork skills with self-motivation to achieve success in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Solid communication skills to convey technical information in non-technical terms.
  • Strong understanding of advanced programming concepts, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Proficient in FORTRAN and C programming languages.
  • Experience in coding Logic and Dynamic systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Proficient with installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Operating Systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering and 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • Consulting/client engagement background.
  • Knowledge of business practices and processes in Nuclear Power Plant Operations.
  • Knowledge of graphic design software.
  • Experience with modeling systems and Simulator model builder software (e.g., Thor, Xtreme, Jade, TopMerit, Thunder).
  • Experience with Simulator Executive Systems (e.g., OpenSim, TREX, SimExec, Chattanooga).
  • Experience with engineering print reading.
  • Experience leading small IT projects or sub-teams and knowledge of IT project management.
  • Experience with GIT configuration management.
  • Experience with network topology.
  • Experience with creating software interface protocols.
