About the position

The Engineer - Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Testing, Electrical and Instrumentation, and Electrochemistry role at GE Vernova Research involves leading and contributing to the development of technologies related to solid oxide fuel and electrolysis cells. This position focuses on electrical and instrumentation aspects, as well as electrochemistry for system and testing development, playing a crucial role in advancing sustainable energy solutions and supporting the energy transition.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and lead projects in energy conversion and storage, solid oxide fuel cells, and solid oxide electrolysis cells.
  • Develop solid oxide fuel cells testing equipment and set up electrical and instrumentation for testing.
  • Design and execute experiments independently to benefit GE Vernova businesses and customers.
  • Shape proposals with GE Vernova businesses, government agencies, universities, and national laboratories.
  • Prepare written reports and presentations for stakeholders describing the value, strategy, approach, and results of work.
  • Develop and identify new technology, products, and service opportunities in energy conversion and storage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or associate degree in electrical, electrochemistry, specialized in instrumentation, system and testing development, or related field.
  • Minimum of 25 years of experience in developing solid oxide cells and systems for fuel formulation and production.
  • Proven record of innovation in energy storage and conversion technologies, including solid oxide fuel or electrolysis cells.
  • Practical knowledge of safety practices related to experimental design and lab practices.
  • Demonstrated project execution experience and teamwork experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in SOFC electrical and instrumentation design, electrochemistry system and testing development.
  • Experience at a commercial solid oxide cell manufacturer or at a government research facility in the area of solid oxide fuel cells or electrolysis cells.
  • Strong data analytical skills and creative problem-solving skills.
