Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer - Structural Design/Principal Engineer - Structural Design to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA and is assigned to the 4/10-1st Shift, (Mon-Thu) - 10 hours/day schedule. This position may be filled by either an Engineer - Structural Design level or a Principal Engineer - Structural Design level based on the qualifications listed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 'Design for Producibility' solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.
  • Present and explain structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives concisely.
  • Develop and review completed models, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
  • Evaluate engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Supervise design solutions from initial concept to final implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 2 or more years of engineering experience or MS with 0 years or more year of engineering experience or Ph.D. with 0 or more years of engineering experience for Engineer - Structural Design.
  • Active in-scope DOD Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) to start.
  • Experience in the design of bonded composite primary and secondary aircraft structures.
  • High level of proficiency using Unigraphics Nx or CATIA V5 in the development of aircraft structures and components.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM related field with 5 or more years of engineering experience or MS in STEM with 3 years of engineering experience or PhD in STEM for Principal Engineer - Structural Design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working on Special Access Programs.
  • Experience working on military aircraft.
