About the position

As a Senior Engineer in Structural/Mechanical at Constellation Energy, you will play a pivotal role in supporting nuclear plant operations through advanced technical and engineering problem-solving. This position requires a deep understanding of engineering principles and their practical applications, particularly in the context of nuclear energy. You will be responsible for making critical technical decisions that impact the efficiency and safety of plant operations. Your expertise will be essential in developing, managing, and implementing engineering analyses, activities, and programs that align with industry standards and regulations. In this role, you will provide in-depth technical expertise and consultation, directly engaging with equipment and system issues to identify and resolve problems effectively. You will manage engineering tasks assigned by supervision, ensuring that all work is completed accurately, completely, and in a timely manner. This includes maintaining proper configuration management and adhering to standard design criteria, practices, procedures, and codes during the preparation of plans and specifications. Additionally, you will conduct independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses to support various technical projects and programs. Your recommendations for equipment, new concepts, and techniques will be crucial in improving performance, simplifying construction processes, reducing costs, and ensuring compliance with evolving codes and regulations. This position not only demands technical acumen but also a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation in the engineering field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities and programs.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
  • Provide complete task management of engineering issues.
  • Perform engineering tasks as assigned by supervision applying engineering principles.
  • Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications.
  • Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of technical projects and programs.
  • Recommend equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.

Requirements

  • B. S. in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer and 5+ years' engineering experience
  • 5 or more years' solid performance with last two in top half of Engr 2 band
  • Demonstration of FLS competencies
