As Electric Boat continues to support unprecedented Navy demand for nuclear submarines, the performance of our critical supply base is paramount to supporting DOD objectives. With our continued procurement of materials for Columbia (CLB) and Virginia (VCS) Class submarines, plus future development needs for AUKUS, ship sustainment, and class upgrades, the Supply Chain organization is rapidly seeking to improve our critical supply base readiness. The Supplier Development Engineer will play a crucial role in this effort, reporting to the Program Supervisor of Supply Chain Risk Management. This position is designed to drive supplier risk identification and mitigation as part of the Integrated Enterprise Plan (IEP). The Supplier Development Engineer will have a unique opportunity to support one of Electric Boat's key business objectives to develop the supply base, directly impacting one of our top strategic priorities to fulfill EB's purpose, mission, and vision. In this newly created role, the Supplier Development Engineer will perform activities including capability and capacity assessments, risk identification and mitigation, root cause analysis, and problem resolution. The engineer will have holistic ownership of supplier performance improvement. Successful candidates will collect and analyze cross-functional data inputs from all Supplier Management and Oversight (SMO) stakeholders and help resolve identified issues to ensure consistent and sustained performance in order to meet the high visibility need. This role is a great opportunity to actively improve our critical supply base, working directly with SMO stakeholders (Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, etc.) and suppliers to ensure the effectiveness of our supply chain operations.
