About the position

The Systems Engineer 2 position at Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) focuses on designing, developing, and testing integrated training systems for maritime coalition surface combatants. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including military and international organizations, to ensure effective systems integration and support for training systems. The engineer will lead technical discussions, manage product specifications, and participate in working groups to enhance training capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical interchange during coalition country integrated product team meetings as product owner for ATD training systems.
  • Attend external meetings during new capability and requirements discussions for all foreign national combat system interfaces and Aegis Baselines.
  • Support systems integration engineering management planning efforts and key programmatic documents such as FMS Training Systems Roadmaps.
  • Act as product owner for FMS ATD interface specification and design reference requirement updates.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders such as NAVSE Warfare Centers and Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare-International Program Office Systems.
  • Review concepts, plans, demonstrations, and other documents, providing analysis and recommendations.
  • Participate in the Integrated Training System Working Group (ITSWG) and other technical exchanges.
  • Provide programmatic technical briefings and white papers.

Requirements

  • 2 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field OR 0 years' experience with a Master's in a related field OR High School Diploma and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline.
  • At least 2 years full-time professional experience as a systems engineer in a major shipboard, non-propulsion electronic subsystem, with 2 years at the system level.
  • US Citizen with ability to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Naval Surface Combat System Aegis or Ship Self Defense System experience.
  • Battle Force Tactical Training (BFTT) or Advanced Training Domain (ATD) experience.
  • Foreign Military Sales (FMS), International Trafficking of Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Export Compliance experience.
  • DOORS-JIRA configuration management experience.
