About the position

LEO A DALY is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Subject Matter Expert in Engineering. This position is pivotal in identifying and coordinating discipline experts across all engineering studios, ensuring that our projects are supported by the best technical knowledge available. The successful candidate will work closely with the National Director of Engineering, as well as the Operations Directors, to facilitate work sharing and recruitment efforts as needed. This role also involves identifying business development opportunities, including speaking engagements, publications, and client outreach, to enhance our market presence and project opportunities. In addition to these responsibilities, the candidate will be the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors throughout various stages of project development. This includes attending client meetings and effectively communicating project details and requirements. The role also encompasses marketing and business development activities, such as building relationships with key clients, writing proposals, estimating fees, and conducting client interviews. Travel for marketing and project-related activities will be required, making strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for success in this position. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of licensed experience, with at least 5 years in team management. An ABET-accredited degree in Engineering or Architectural Engineering is required, along with a Registered Professional Engineer designation. The candidate should possess practical knowledge of industry codes and standards, as well as experience in preparing deliverable drawing sets using Revit and AutoCAD. A self-motivated team player with the ability to manage competing priorities and time effectively will thrive in this collaborative design culture.

Responsibilities

  • Identify discipline Subject Matter Experts specific to markets and technical experience across all engineering studios.
  • Coordinate with studio Ops Directors and National Director of Engineering on work sharing and recruiting coordination as required.
  • Identify engineering business development opportunities across studios such as speaking/publishing opportunities, client outreach, and project opportunities.
  • Work with National Director of Engineering on setting strategic goals for discipline growth and best practice advancement.
  • Attend client meetings and communicate with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development.
  • Perform marketing and business development activities including building relationships with key clients and strategic partners, proposal writing, fee estimates, and client interviews.

Requirements

  • 6+ years licensed experience in engineering or architectural engineering.
  • 5+ years of team management experience.
  • ABET-accredited degree in Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer required.
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards.
  • Production experience preparing deliverable drawing sets in Revit and AutoCAD required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency using industry standard calculation software required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of current National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards including the Life Safety Code (101) and national building and fire codes.
  • Competency with stairwell pressurization mechanical systems and atrium smoke control/evacuation mechanical systems.
  • Experience with high-rise building smoke control designs and control sequences for related mechanical systems.
  • Oversight experience of fire/smoke detection and alarm system designs.
  • Design competency in various fire suppression systems and fire alarm/mass notification systems.
