About the position

The Engineer Wiring Harness Design and Development role involves designing and developing wiring harnesses and power distribution systems. The position requires collaboration with various engineering teams to ensure that designs meet specifications and standards while managing the implementation of electrical works.

Responsibilities

• Participate in initial conceptual development and balance product specifications, process control requirements, component selection, and cost limits.
• Design the system power distribution, control architecture, and system field cabling/interconnect including process and instrumentation.
• Design power distribution systems using CAD systems.
• Develop harness designs and manage technicians to implement electrical works.
• Define system interconnect/schematic and key control/automation components.
• Coordinate with peers in other engineering groups to synchronize design criteria across disciplines.
• Work closely with project managers and electrical team members to translate expectations and specifications into the final design.
• Organize and manage offsite engineers' deliverables to meet regulatory standards and equipment specifications.
• Execute, implement, and support standards and buy-off processes.
• Enforce application of standards and manage suppliers during specification, design review, and design approval.
• Handle electrical system control and wiring harness development.
• Problem solve electrical design issues and implement best practice solutions.
• Familiarity and hands-on troubleshooting of power distribution and wiring harness design.
• Design electrical control schematics including cable assembly.

Requirements

• Solidworks experience is required.
• Experience in reverse engineering is necessary.
• Proven ability to design power distribution systems and wiring harnesses.
• Experience in managing and directing technicians for electrical works.
• Strong problem-solving skills related to electrical design issues.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with regulatory standards and equipment specifications.
• Experience in coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines.
