About the position

You will serve as an ENGINEER in the FACILITIES BRANCH (CODE 1021) of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. In this role, you will be responsible for facilities building, renovation, and repair projects, providing post-project award oversight for a range of facilities and projects. You will produce designs in accordance with construction standards for interior and exterior repair/renovation or in support of new construction projects. Additionally, you will plan, design, and maintain various types of Research and Development facilities, working with systems including HVAC, fire detection/suppression, water and steam piping, and electrical/lighting.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior Design and Project Engineer for facilities building, renovation, and repair projects.
  • Provide post-project award oversight for a range of facilities and projects.
  • Produce designs in accordance with construction standards for interior and exterior repair/renovation or in support of new construction projects.
  • Plan, design, and maintain various types of Research and Development facilities.
  • Work with systems including HVAC, fire detection/suppression, water and steam piping, and electrical/lighting.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
