About the position

The Test Equipment Engineer at American Airlines is responsible for the design, specification, maintenance, and calibration of tooling and test equipment used for the return to service testing of aircraft systems and components. This role involves authoring engineering specifications, supporting complex Automated Test Equipment (ATE), and collaborating across multiple departments to ensure effective tooling solutions.

Responsibilities

• Author and control revisions of engineering specifications.
• Create maintenance requirements and programs for tools and test equipment.
• Support complex Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and Test Stands.
• Maintain software programs, including writing and modifying code as needed.
• Design and modify electrical and mechanical tools to meet specifications.
• Utilize SolidWorks or other design software for tool development and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with maintenance customers and collaborate with multiple departments.

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Classical Electrical/Computer Engineering from an accredited College/University.
• Ability to perform programming revisions in Visual Basic or similar language.
• Experience with Automated Test Equipment and/or programming interface.

Nice-to-haves

• Minimum 2 years' experience as an engineer in relevant fields.
• Ability to handle stressful decision-making and real-time items.
• Ability to travel and accept after-hours or weekend duties occasionally.
• Strong problem-solving skills with external departments.
