About the position

The Engineering Adjunct Faculty position involves teaching courses as assigned, with a requirement for the faculty member to be willing to teach in person and/or be certified to teach online. The faculty member is expected to teach assigned courses in accordance with the course descriptions published in the catalog and the approved course syllabus, while incorporating interactive approaches, technologies, and methods when possible. The role also emphasizes the importance of diversity and the use of various educational resources in the teaching process.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned courses in accordance with description published in catalog and the approved course syllabus.
  • Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.
  • Utilizes library resources, writing as an instructional method, and academic technologies in courses.
  • Meets all scheduled class meetings and advises Division Dean/Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate grade and attendance records for students and submits required reports.
  • Submits grades per published deadline.
  • Participates in assessment of learning outcomes and uses results in course planning.
  • Plans in advance for availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment.
  • Submits progress reports on students and discusses any problems requiring special attention.
  • Adheres to College policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree and specialized licensing preferred.
  • Some teaching experience required, preferably at the community college level.
  • Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview.
