About the position
The Physical Science Department at Los Medanos College is seeking Engineering instructors for teaching assignments at the Pittsburg campus and Brentwood Center. The role involves teaching various engineering courses and contributing to the college's commitment to social justice and equitable academic success for a diverse student body.
Responsibilities
- Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules.
- Creating and maintaining an environment that emphasizes learning and encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
- Evaluating student progress and grading student work.
- Meeting with students outside of class to provide additional support.
- Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Keeping current knowledge in subject matter areas.
- Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
- Maintaining accurate academic records.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master's in any field of engineering.
- Bachelor's in engineering and Master's in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, or geology, or the equivalent.
- A bachelor's in any field of engineering with a professional engineer's license is an alternative qualification.
Nice-to-haves
- Teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong aptitude or interest in teaching.
