About the position
The Engineering Adjunct Instructor position is a temporary part-time role focused on teaching the properties of engineering materials and MATLAB. The instructor will adhere to established course outlines and department guidelines while providing dedicated instruction to a diverse student body. Support is available through existing resources, including lab manuals and online platforms. The role emphasizes maintaining academic standards, grading assignments, and fostering student success in a community college environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach the properties of engineering materials and MATLAB according to approved course outlines.
- Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations.
- Inform students of their academic progress and course requirements.
- Maintain attendance, scholastic, and personnel records according to deadlines.
- Post and maintain regular office hours as per policy.
- Follow department guidelines, including exam and homework standards.
- Serve a diverse student body in terms of age, ethnicity, and academic skills.
Requirements
- Master's degree in any field of engineering or a Bachelor's degree in engineering with a Master's in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, or geology.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students.
