About the position
The Engineering Aide/Technician I/II position at the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources involves performing field and office work related to landfill operations. The role includes inspecting closed landfills for compliance, conducting construction inspections, and assisting engineering staff with project planning and cost estimation using various software tools. The position requires travel to multiple landfill sites within Riverside County.
Responsibilities
- Inspect closed landfills for compliance with state and local regulations.
- Conduct construction inspections for public works projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Assist professional engineering staff in preparing plans and cost estimates for public works construction projects.
- Perform calculations for soil volumes, disposal capacity, and expected site life using CADD and GIS software.
- Perform sub-professional field surveys and set construction stakes using Trimble GPS equipment.
- Prepare construction daily reports and draft maps and drawings using CADD programs.
Requirements
- Sub-professional engineering field experience at a sanitary landfill or in a related public works setting.
- Drafting experience using MicroStation/Inroads and/or AutoCAD/Autodesk Civil 3D software applications.
- Public Works inspection experience is preferred.
