About the position

Eastern Controls, Inc. is a family-owned manufacturer's representative located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA, and we are currently seeking an Engineering Applications Specialist for our Inside Sales team in Edgemont, PA. This role is pivotal in providing exceptional customer service and technical support to our clients in various industries, including Life Sciences, Power, Water & Wastewater, Chemical, Refinery, and Food & Beverage. In this position, you will be responsible for creating an exceptional experience for an assigned customer base by providing in-depth product and application knowledge. You will work closely with our Outside Sales team and manufacturing partners to craft tailored solutions for our customers' most significant process challenges. Your primary duties will include preparing quotations, responding to technical inquiries, and developing proposals for both single items and large projects. You will also engage in routine quote follow-ups and occasional order entry, ensuring clear communication with customers throughout the process. As the customer advocate for Eastern Controls, you will facilitate solutions by advising customers on the correct products for their specific processes and collaborating with outside sales on pricing strategies to secure business. Responsibilities

  • Provide in-depth product and applications knowledge as well as sales support.
  • Create an exceptional experience with an assigned customer base.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers.
  • Prepare quotations and respond to technical questions.
  • Develop proposals for single items and large projects.
  • Conduct routine quote follow-ups and occasional order entry.
  • Engage in daily interactions with customers, inside and outside staff, and manufacturing partners.
  • Act as a solutions facilitator by advising customers on the correct solutions specific to their processes.
  • Collaborate with outside sales on pricing to win customer business.
  • Communicate clearly with customers from start to finish.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering) or Business & Engineering (Sales, Technical Sales, Entrepreneurship).
  • 1 year of experience in industrial product sales.
  • 1 year of experience in process control and/or instrumentation.
  • 1 year of experience with fluid and gas flow products.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and CRM platforms.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional sales acumen with a focus on business development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with the industrial automation/process control industry.
  • Technical aptitude in instrumentation, gas detection, and/or valves.
  • Inside industrial sales experience.
