About the position

Goldman Sachs is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Asset Management team in York. The role involves designing, developing, and implementing complex software applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions that meet business needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining reliable and scalable systems, ensuring high performance and security throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain complex software systems and applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define technical solutions
  • Implement and maintain best practices for software development and engineering processes
  • Develop and maintain software documentation, including design specifications, user guides and manuals
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability and performance of software systems
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex software issues
  • Manage our continuous integration and delivery pipeline to maximize efficiency

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software development and engineering
  • Strong proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (Java, C++, Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, algorithms and data structures
  • Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and web services
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience in devops tools in configuration management, containers, IAC, SDLC (GITLAB)
  • Experience in cloud solutions preferably AWS
  • Good understanding for how security fits into the SDLC along with practical experience doing so
