About the position

The Engineering Assistant 1/2 - Project Engineer position at the State of Alaska involves working in a team environment to develop and deliver capital projects that comply with applicable codes, standards, and laws. The role includes performing engineering calculations and analyses, producing bid-ready plans, overseeing contractor activities during construction, and ensuring project compliance with objectives. This position supports the Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation's mission to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities through effective engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver capital projects that meet applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis under the guidance of the project manager.
  • Produce bid-ready plans for construction.
  • Oversee contractor activities during the construction phase.
  • Administer contracts to ensure compliance with project plans and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or land surveying from an accredited institution.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate, or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination.
  • Under 1 year of relevant experience for Engineering Assistant 1; 1 year for Engineering Assistant 2.
