About the position

The Engineering Assistant 1/2 - Project Engineer position with the State of Alaska involves working in a team environment to develop and deliver capital projects that comply with applicable codes, standards, and laws. The role includes performing engineering calculations and analysis under the guidance of a project manager, producing bid-ready plans for construction, and overseeing contractor activities during the construction phase to ensure compliance with project objectives. This position supports the Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation in enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities through effective engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver capital projects that meet applicable codes and standards.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis under the guidance of the project manager.
• Produce bid-ready plans for construction.
• Oversee contractor activities during the construction phase.
• Administer contracts to ensure compliance with plans and project objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or land surveying from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination.
• Under 1 year of relevant experience for Engineering Assistant 1; 1 year of relevant experience for Engineering Assistant 2.
