About the position

The Special Projects Division of KPFF is expanding and is in search of a motivated and proactive Civil Transportation Engineer to join our dynamic team in Seattle or Tacoma, WA. This role places you at the center of downtown, where you will engage in a variety of heavy civil and industrial infrastructure projects. As a vital member of our team, you will not only enhance your existing skills in roadway and transportation improvements on design-build projects but also immerse yourself in design, project management, and delivering exceptional client service. In this position, you will apply your engineering expertise to a diverse array of projects, collaborating with teams to create innovative solutions that leverage best practices in areas such as linear utility projects, street improvements, design/build initiatives, and transportation infrastructure. You will also contribute to projects involving waterfront and industrial developments, utilizing your skills to drive successful outcomes in these specialized areas. Additionally, you will learn to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies that contribute to project success while ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including understanding regulations and permitting requirements. Your problem-solving skills will be enhanced as you identify and overcome challenges using both traditional and modern engineering techniques. As part of your project leadership responsibilities, you will assist in managing project tasks, ensuring efficient coordination of timelines, budgets, and resources to achieve successful project outcomes. Conducting site visits and inspections will be necessary to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards. You will also have the opportunity to mentor team members, supporting their professional growth and development. Client engagement is a key aspect of this role. You will foster strong relationships with clients by actively listening to their needs, providing clear communication, and delivering customized solutions that align with their objectives. Serving as a trusted advisor, you will offer expert guidance and proactive support throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Minimum 4 years of full-time experience in relevant civil/site development engineering design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Advanced MicroStation, InRoads, and Openroads design experience is required.
  • ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civil3D and other engineering design software proficiency is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods and techniques.
