About the position

The Engineering Designer/Drafter position at Curtiss-Wright involves preparing detailed engineering drawings and plans for electrical components and assemblies. The role requires proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD, to create and modify layouts, schematics, and other technical documents. The designer will collaborate with various teams to ensure product quality and adherence to industry standards while contributing to design improvements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare working plans and detailed drawings of components and assemblies using CAD software.
• Develop and modify layout and engineering drawings from notes, sketches, and verbal instructions.
• Utilize AutoCAD and/or Microsoft Visio for creating assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and PIDs.
• Contribute design modifications to enhance product quality and manufacturing operations.
• Support various departments including Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing to facilitate product definition and quality.
• Check drawings and BOMs for accuracy and compliance with standards.

Requirements

• 4+ years of drafting experience.
• Technical/Trade School preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems design.
• Experience with CAD, especially AutoCAD, is preferred.
• Industrial control systems design experience is a plus.
• Experience working within a quality assurance program is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Microsoft Visio.
• Familiarity with electrical systems and components.
