About the position

The Engineering Designer - Electrical (Co-op) position at McKim & Creed involves providing technical and design services as part of a multi-discipline project team. The role focuses on power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and voice/data systems for various facility types, including healthcare and educational institutions. The position emphasizes collaboration, technical precision, and the use of design software such as REVIT and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and design services as part of a multi-discipline project team.
  • Generate electrical design/construction drawings utilizing REVIT and AutoCAD software.
  • Observe electrical construction progress on projects.
  • Prepare design computations and assessments, perform technical evaluations, and prepare technical reports and correspondence under guidance.
  • Complete assigned design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Project Manager, Sr. Electrical Engineer, and other design team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with electrical focus from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 2-4 years of documented applicable experience working on similar facilities.
  • Strong organization, technical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • 2+ years of Autodesk REVIT experience in a design-related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Bluebeam.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Passed the FE/EIT examination and working toward becoming a licensed Professional Engineer.
