About the position

The Engineering Drafter position is an entry-level role focused on performing drafting and engineering support duties. The role involves developing competence through structured work assignments under the guidance of experienced colleagues. Key responsibilities include preparing and updating engineering drawings, performing field observations, and assisting in drafting solicitation documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observations and gather engineering information by traveling to various locations.
• Prepare and update as-built drawings based on field edits.
• Read and interpret engineering and construction drawings.
• Manipulate point cloud data to verify 2D and 3D design drawings.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings using CAD software from provided materials.
• Indicate revisions and file drawings according to standard procedures.
• Assist in drafting solicitation documents for procurement and contract activities.
• Conduct field and office research related to measurements and technical records.
• Perform data entry in the departmental engineering database.
• Operate equipment such as plotters, printers, copiers, and scanners.

Requirements

• One or more years of experience interpreting technical drawings and performing technical analysis or drafting using CAD software.
• A degree in computer-aided design or relevant field may substitute for certain years of experience.
• Valid driver's license for traveling to various locations.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of computer-aided drafting principles and techniques.
• Familiarity with electronic document management systems (EDMS).
• Basic skills in office productivity applications.
